Feeding the Sheep

1 Peter 5:2-4

Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight , not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre (just for the profit), but of a ready mind;

Neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being ensamples (a living example) to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, you shall receive a crown of glory that fades not away.

I have been called "Pastor" for over 47 years. It may be just a title to some, but this privilege is what defines me. BUT Father is still challenging me on my skills and attention to the task. I am not trying to sound wise or noble - there are times, even now, when I realize I have a sheep that is starving or wounded and … I missed it.

I am thankful for God's mercy in my life but I don't believe I am a great mercy-giver. I need help. I work hard at preparing good meals for everyone. I seek to be sensitive to the conditions the flock is facing and "feed them", with food that will help them stand firm in Christ. "I prepared a good meal, if you won't come to the table, it is not my fault." BUT Jesus has reminded me that THAT is part of my job - find the wandering sheep. Matt.18:12-14

How that is done is something I am going to think about.
